Last January 20-21, the school hosted a 2-day exhibit of Our Lady the Mother of China at the lobby of the Chapel of Our Lady of the Rose. The event included a reception and a meet-and-greet with Antonio Lucas Marin, founder and advocate of this devotion. It was back in 1996 when a Chinese artist painted the Icon of the Empress of China, showing Mary in imperial robes holding the Child Jesus. The image quickly spread across Asia and beyond. Inspired by the painting, a Spanish artist later carved a statue, which was brought to the Northern Cathedral in Beijing in 2016. Since 2020, the statue has been enshrined in its own chapel, adorned with a magnificent carved wooden throne.
The Woodrose community was truly blessed to host this meaningful exhibit, honoring Our Lady the Mother of China. It served as a beautiful moment to reflect on her boundless love and her role as a mother to us all.
