WSC Installs Garden Waste Compost Station

The Woodrose Student Council’s Environmental Committee, formed this past SY 2024-25, supported the school’s sustainability and waste management program through the Garden Waste Compost Station and the Scratch Paper Box Project.

The Garden Waste Compost Station is positioned right by the Acacia Gate and is divided into three bins. These bins are purposed to decompose leaves into nutrient-rich compost which will be utilized in our gardens, ultimately reducing waste production and promoting a cleaner environment. On the other hand, the Scratch Paper Box Project aimed to reduce the paper waste in school by repurposing used papers. Designated boxes were placed in all classrooms and offices for students and staff to put their used papers. After the boxes were collected, the paper was reused by staff for printing drafts and documents, while the WSC Production Committee reused them for Family Day decorations. This initiative not only minimized waste in our campus, but also promoted creativity among the student body.

Congratulations to WSC Environmental Committee members, especially Sydney Kozlowski, Bea Belino, and Mika Maddela for spearheading these initiatives with the Woodrose Facilities Department.
