Welcome once again to the brave new world of remote learning!
Let’s be honest, we’re tired of Zoom/Google Meet remote learning sessions and we’re dying to go to school and meet everyone face-to-face! I empathize with all of you. These times truly call for patience which is not simply waiting but “keeping a good attitude while waiting” (-Unknown). With patience and God on our side, we will win the battle against this global pandemic and once again reunite in that warm and wonderful brick school that is Woodrose.
Happily, COVID-19 and remote learning will never be able to wipe out a most beautiful human reality: RELATIONSHIPS. Relationships go beyond the computer screen. Whether on-site or in front of the monitor, relationships prevail, and it is these relationships that will help us breeze through another school year of remote learning. This school year 2021-22, I appeal to all of you to:
be each other’s pillar of support and strength;
be each other’s cheerleader; and
be each other’s resilience champion.
So, whenever someone feels suffocated being holed up in her room facing the computer screen 5 days a week;
throws her arms up in frustration tuning in to remote learning sessions several hours a day; or
glumly perceives she doesn’t retain anything in her synchronous or asynchronous learning…
let our words of support, cheer and resilience chants bore through the computer screen to ease her mind, fill her heart with hope and fire up her will to overcome the hurdles of remote learning. Thus, learning will no longer be a “remote,” “distant,” and “isolated” activity but a shared, meaningful, and joy-filled process. May this year bring you enriching relationships, great resourcefulness, and amazing resilience. Have a happy day!
