A total of 23 Grade School students from PAREF Woodrose School stood out in the recently concluded Bible Camp 2021 Online Edition. The event, which was held on July 14-16, 2021, was attended by over 100 girls from 24 teams nationwide. They came mostly from the country’s major regions including Davao and Koronadal in Mindanao, Cebu and Bacolod in the Visayas, and the NCR as well as Rizal in Luzon. The teams that represented Woodrose won the top 3 spots in the Bible Camp’s version of the Amazing Race and 2nd Place in the Kahoot! Quiz Bee.
Bible Camp is organized for girls ages 9-12 who come from both government and private schools. It aims to promote the knowledge of the Holy Scriptures and to develop in them a deeper love for God, while also instilling the virtues of friendship, unity and fairness as they compete in teams. Pre-pandemic, Bible Camp is a one-day outdoor event where the participants play using creative set-ups patterned after the popular TV show, The Amazing Race. This year’s event was different as everything was done online, over a series of 3-days of fun-filled and age-appropriate talks and activities that touched on the theme, “The Life of Jesus: From Infancy to Childhood.”
Among the speakers of the talks were members of the Woodrose Student Council, Carmela Dioko and Raissa Escasa, as well as Woodrose alumnae and sisters Pau and Patti Fermin. Woodrose students from Junior High and Senior High also served as Team Counsellors. The whole event was supervised by a group of mothers from the Crestfield Center of Las Pinas.
