Last April 15, 2020, Woodrose student, Andie de Jesus, along with her family members, responded to the needs of COVID-19 medical frontliners by donating about 500 packs of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Together with her grandmother, parents, and siblings, Andie spent the day packing hazmat suits in gift bags and handwriting “thank you” notes. The hazmat suits that they donated were purchased from fashion designer Rajo Laurel, who designed and manufactured personal protective equipment en masse as his way to help support the frontliners. The donations were sent to two hospitals: Cardinal Santos Hospital in San Juan and Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa.
Inspired by the bravery of the frontliners, Andie wanted to express her gratitude by giving back in her own way to those who have sacrificed so much in the face of this crisis. She said, “Since my dad is a frontliner, I knew that doctors really needed more PPEs to protect themselves, and at the same time, save other people as well.” As the country deals with the COVID-19 crisis, Andie and many others continue to step up and help however they can.
