Michele Borba Presents Woodrose with School of Character Award

Last April 18, 2023, PAREF Woodrose School was presented with the School of Character Award by international education expert Dr. Michele Borba. It was held in the University of Asia and the Pacific in the presence of school administrators from all over the country. The award was received by Woodrose representatives, Executive Director Dr. Gina Rama, Associate Director for Academic Standards Ms. Kathee Pineda, Associate Director for Personal Formation Mrs. Chippy Dioko, School of Character Coordinator Ms. Ashley Aquino and Woodrose Board Trustee Mrs. Marie Escueta.

The School of Character award is a highly regarded recognition given by Character Education Partnership, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting character education in schools across the world. This honor is bestowed only to schools that demonstrate exceptional dedication to character education and student well-being. It is also a testament to the hard work of our students, teachers, staff, and parents who have all contributed to making Woodrose a community of learners who are not only academically competent but also possess strong moral values and leadership skills.

At PAREF Woodrose School, we believe that character formation is an essential component of our education. Our parents take on the role as primary character educators of their children, attending formative talks and parenting classes to empower them in this task. Our teachers, in collaboration with the parents, use a variety of strategies and activities to foster positive character traits such as courage, respect, compassion, and self-discipline. Our students learn to value the ideals of hard work, honesty, optimism, and social responsibility, and develop leadership skills that will serve them well in all aspects of life.

In addition to our academic program, Woodrose also offers a range of co-curricular and extracurricular activities that promote character development. We have service learning projects that allow students to purposefully apply their knowledge and skills to serve a beneficiary. Our sports teams, clubs and orgs, and community service programs also offer many avenues for students to grow and develop as individuals. Opportunities for leadership are also available via school events like Family Day and initiatives spearheaded by the Woodrose Student Council.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Character Education Partnership and Character.org for recognizing our school, and to the entire Woodrose community for your dedication and support. Together, we have achieved something truly remarkable and look forward to ensuring that Woodrose will continue to be School of Character in the years to come. Congratulations to all who have contributed to this incredible achievement!

Aside from the awarding in UA&P, PAREF Woodrose School will also be formally recognized as a School of Character by Character.Org President Dr. Arthur Schwartz during the International Forum in Washington DC, USA from November 5 to 7, 2023.
