On May 23, 2024, Woodrose students met at NAIA 1 at 2:00 AM, eager to begin their long-awaited cultural exchange trip to Japan that was delayed due to the pandemic. After five years of anticipation and four months of preparation, it was finally time to go!
During their 10-day visit, students participated in various activities such as a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, donning of a kimono, and calligraphy class in St. Joseph School for Girls in Tsu City. They also demonstrated how to prepare Filipino delicacies such as pastillas de leche and the iconic Filipino dish chicken adobo. Acting as Philippine ambassadors, they proudly showcased their love for Philippine culture through a lively presentation. Saint Joseph students and teachers enjoyed an informative and entertaining afternoon, learning Tagalog words and phrases, the “Tatlong Bibe” dance, and the song “Bahay Kubo.” The group also explored the city of Nara, visiting sites linked to Buddhist and Shinto spirituality. As their trip concluded, it was time to return home and share their enriching experiences with family and friends.
