Recognizing the general lack of a sense of history among many Filipinos [especially in a time when society is mired by historical revisionism], the Junior High School Social Studies Department launched the Huntahang Kasaysayan sa Woodrose series that actively attempts to inform and educate the Woodrose staff about Historical Revisionism.
Huntahang Kasaysayan: Pagwawasto ng Kasaysayan (Positive Revisionism in Philippine History), a sequel to the talk of Dr. Maris Diokno in June 2017, was held on January 31, 2018. Dr. Lars Raymund C. Ubaldo tackled the topic still of revisionism, but the positive side of it. Because we have served as receptacle of various theories on our origin as a people, Dr. Ubaldo informed the audience how, through historiography, these theories have been debunked, to be replaced by the Out-of-Taiwan theory of Peter Bellwood and Robert Blust, the theory most widely accepted among scholars today. It was a very fitting topic because before we can claim collective pride in the Filipino race, and everything attached to it, should we not know first where we came from in order to understand better who we are as a people?
