Chorale Gives Tribute to Frontliners

Amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Woodrose Chorale was moved to create a music video dedicated to the frontliners who have been very brave and selfless in serving our country.  Guided by their conductor and trainor, Myrene Carballo, they sang “Lead Me Lord,” a favorite of the students. This was composed by Arnel De Pano and popularized by Gary Valenciano. This rendition of the chorale was arranged by Boboy Bagayaua and transcribed to SSAA by Jonjon Bagayaua.

The recording process was no easy task.  Since they could not sing as a group, each member of the Chorale had to listen and sing to a demo recording of the piece to ensure that everyone would be on pitch and in tempo. At first, the plan was to sing together using the Zoom video conferencing app to record it. This proved to be challenging because not everyone had the same internet speeds.

Each member submitted individual audio and video files instead to Bea Cabauatan, President of the Chorale, who took care of editing. She compiled the audio files first, making sure that all voices entered at the correct time. She had to listen to the song multiple times, as she added another recording to the final product. When the audio was clean, and it sounded as if it had been recorded with the whole group, she edited the video, adjusting the size of the previews and adding other effects, such as text and transitions.  The final output was posted on Facebook and YouTube.  The inspiring and uplifting video was picked up by news agencies and the Woodrose Chorale was featured in ABS-CBN and TV Patrol.
