On March 15, 2020, our batchmate, Dr. Anna Imperial, affiliated with Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital, contacted us asking if we had extra gloves and masks on hand we could send her way as the hospital was already running low on PPEs. Together with our former batch mates who remain our good friends to this day, we decided to pool some funds amongst ourselves to purchase the necessary supplies.
Over a few days, more requests for PPEs poured in as the number of COVID-19 cases surged nationwide. The batch reached out to friends, family, and the Woodrose community to raise more funds to purchase PPEs, with a special focus on underfunded hospitals. Within a week, we were able to raise Php 653,364.
We closed the fundraiser on April 15, 2020 with Php 2,029,356 total donations received. The funds have allowed us to purchase 53,800 examination gloves, 9,100 3-ply surgical masks, 4,500 N95/KN95 masks, 3,000 face shields, 1,775 protective coats, 1,300 safety glasses, 1,200 medical grade full body hazmat suits, 350 pairs of shoe covers, 40 full body taffeta suits, 12 rolls of cling wrap for use in the operating room, 3,575 toiletries (donated in kind) and 1,878 warm, comforting meals for our exhausted, vulnerable front liners. Without a doubt, everyone’s contribution has helped ease their burden and encouraged them to soldier on.

Special thanks to Maj. Gaudencio “Happy” Mañalac for helping us deliver the supplies outside of Metro Manila in an efficient and timely manner despite the lockdown.

We are so overwhelmed by the generosity of the Woodrose community, our family and friends from all over the world and even people who just heard of us on the internet. It is astounding that the very thing that is forcing all of us to be physically apart has brought us together as a batch to rally behind our front liners.
We are grateful for the opportunity to help alleviate this crisis in the small ways we can. Thank you for trusting us.
Note: Batch 2003 dedicates this fundraiser to all the front liners who are working tirelessly to keep all of us safe, in particular, their very own batchmates in the medical field: Dr. Anna Imperial, Dr. Joanne Dizon Fang, Dr. Joanne Reyes, Dr. Michelle Alcantara, Dr. Paula Arquiza, Dr. Shara Que Felix, Jeffer Chua Conner, RN, Karla Lumunsad Hopkins, RN, Maryanne Miranda Reda, RN, Stelle Tan, RN.
