Grade 4 students and best friends, Gianna Olivares and Amara Lingan, co-authored a book during the quarantine entitled The Tail of the Twins. It is about the magical adventures of twin mermaids named Aquamarine and Turquoise. This is the first of a series of 14 books that they plan to release. The girls launched it as an e-book in February 2021 and in less than a month they have already sold 66 copies! We are so proud of these girls who remained productive while cooped up at home. Even more admirable is that they are donating part of their sales to an orphanage! This is why they plan to call the series Charity Chronicles.
We asked Gianna to share their story on how they came out with their first e-book and this is what she said:
We decided to sell the book and give 50% of the money to an orphanage that we usually visit during Christmas. The orphanage is called Oasi Di Gioia. It is located in Muntinlupa. I started to make the cover and the poster that we could use to promote our book. My mom helped by turning our book into PDF format so we could sell digital copies for P100 each.
After we started selling our book, Christa had an idea for the Charity Chronicles, where we would sell all our books and give 50% of the money to charity. We are planning to sell a lot more books , including Book 2 of The Tail of the Twins and the title of the book is The Hidden Gems of Mertopia. Amara and I co-wrote the second book and it will be edited by Christa so watch out for it!
The Tail of the Twins is recommended for children Grade 3 and up. To order a copy of the e-book, send a message to 0917-8142200. Happy reading!
