On September 8th, the feast of the birth of Our Blessed Mother, the Grade 7 batch celebrated Mother-Daughter Day. It started off with a talk for moms, entitled Mother Knows Best, given by Mrs. Mita Victa. She encouraged moms to constantly update their parenting skills and continue to gently reinforce their God-given authority as their children go through changes physically, emotionally, psychologically and mentally.
In a separate forum, the Grade 7 girls were met by Mrs. Monique Escueta-Bunuan, Woodrose alumna from Class 1995. She reminded them that like any relationship, the mother-daughter connection is a two-way street where each person has a role to fulfill through ordinary acts of affection, appreciation, affirmation and attention.
The second part of the program was facilitated by Mrs. Stephanie Cabanes. Mothers and daughters enjoyed games that were designed to define their roles in nurturing their relationship.
Executive Director Dr. Severina Villegas personally met with the mothers. She concluded the event by saying “Parents must reinforce their moral authority over their children…always with a tone of kindness, especially now as their daughters go through adolescence.”
