For high school students, SY 2021-22 commenced on August 2 and definitely marked the start of a great school year. It began with the First Day Student Assembly on Zoom where both the teaching staff and student body were acquainted with one another. New faces were warmly welcomed and members of the Woodrose Student Council (WSC) were introduced.
We also listened to back-to-school messages from our Executive Director, Dr. Gina Rama, the Junior High School Principal, Mrs. Cheye dela Fuente, and the Woodrose Student Council President, Carmela Dioko. The entire affair was live-streamed as well on YouTube for all the students to watch. While the start of this school year brought many “firsts” to students, whether it be the first time entering Senior High or high school itself, another first was the launching of “Reconnect & Rewire: a Back to School WebinaWR”. This webinar and website managed by the Woodrose Student Council taught the students how to prepare for school in terms of organizing physical materials, managing technical apps, and training one’s mindset. The main goal of these activities was to welcome and prepare the students to go back to school — and that’s exactly what happened. In fact, beyond this, the high school students also played an active role during the Interbatch Orientation and Interbatch Bonding a week later. Students from all batches were able to share experiences and have a good time with one another, strengthening the ties of sisterhood. The opening events of the school year were definitely a success, setting the tone for the rest of the year. If SY 2021-22 brings the same spirit and excitement as these past few weeks, it will be one to remember indeed.
