Grade 4 students learned the basics of sewing by hand in their Home Economics classes. Aside from being a very practical life skill, sewing is good for developing eye-hand coordination and exercising fine motor muscles. It also helps students to improve focus and concentration and to grow in patience, perseverance, and order.
Armed with their creativity and newfound skill, the Grade 4 girls upcycled old items and scrap fabrics they had at home to make something new, useful, and personalized. Here are some of their finished products:
