On July 13, 2018, fourteen students from Our Lady of Providence Girls’ High School in Taipei, Taiwan visited Woodrose. The students were in the Philippines for Youth for the Community (YouthCom 2018), an annual volunteer service project organized by the Wen Shan Residence in Taipei. It was the second time that students from this Taiwanese school have visited Woodrose.
YouthCom started as a volunteer relief drive to raise funds and collect donations for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda. It evolved into an annual service project, and yearly, the student volunteers raise money and conduct outreach activities for underprivileged communities.
After completing their volunteer work in Batangas, the students and their chaperones Tsai Rong, (a teacher from their school), Linlin Cheng (an elementary school teacher), and Janette Yuviengco from Wen Shan Residence paid a quick visit to Woodrose.
They were toured around the school grounds by the Woodrose Ambassadors and once again with the help of our very own Taiwanese students, sisters Lea and Michi Huang. After having lunch together, the students from Taiwan presented their hosts with gifts and pastries. They then made their way to the gym, where they were introduced to the high school student body during the First Student Assembly for the new school year.
It was another brief visit, but both groups were happy to see old friends and make new acquaintances. Here’s to a third visit in July 2019!
