Mass of the Holy Spirit 2018

On Thursday, July 12, the school community gathered together to celebrate the annual Mass of the Holy Spirit. We share with you excerpts of the homily given by our School Chaplain, Fr. Roque Reyes:

If you ask me why we celebrate the Mass of the Holy Spirit at the beginning of every school year, I would tell you that the Holy Spirit is very important in our life because it is the Holy Spirit that moves us to pray, and when we pray, we are happy…

But why do we become happy when we pray? We become happy when we pray because in prayer we get to know Jesus, and knowing Jesus through prayer, we will get to love Him, and it is by loving Jesus that we become happy.

It is Jesus who makes us happy. And the happiness that Jesus gives us is a deep kind of happiness that remains with us even when we experience hardships, pains and sufferings. It is only Jesus who can give us that kind of happiness and I want that each one of us in Woodrose this school year will experience that kind of happiness that Jesus gives to us when we pray.

Since we all want to be always happy, then let us strive to pray everyday. People who pray everyday are happy people. If all of us in Woodrose pray everyday, then Woodrose will become a very happy school with Happy parents, Happy teachers and Happy students.

Do not forget the connection: Holy Spirit-prayer-Jesus-happiness. Very easy to remember.

Jesus is the secret to true happiness. Therefore, let us put Jesus in the center of our day. Let us visit him in the chapel everyday when we arrive in school in the morning.

Let us offer to him the classes that we attend, the quizzes and exams that we take, the projects that we make.

…This school year would be a great one, a wonderful one if we all make the effort to put Jesus at the center of our life.

Let us end by asking the help of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Lady of the Rose. Under her motherly love, may we all grow like roses in God’s garden, sweet and fragrant, so that we could spread the sweet fragrance of Christ wherever we are.
