3rd Research Colloquium

Congratulations to the Research & Development Unit for organizing the 3rd Research Colloquium held on 31 July 2019. The event was attended by teachers and staff of PAREF Woodrose School as well as representatives from PAREF Rosehill and PAREF Southridge.

It started off with a keynote address by Dr. Ernesto D. Grio, former Director for Academic Standards of the PAREF system, and currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Asia & the Pacific. Dr. Grio delivered an inspiring talk about making sense of learning from the point of view of both students and teachers. He spoke about the art of the “stolen idea” taken from the researches of colleagues to improve teaching and learning. He underscored the importance of positive professional conversations among teachers, including internal conversations or reflections about each one’s teaching practice. Finally, he encouraged professional growth as teacher-leaders.

The colloquium ended with brief closing remarks from Ms. Irene Barcelon, Math Consultant and PAASCU Coordinator on the relevance of research endeavors in schools.
